VICKSBURG, MS. – The Vicksburg Young Professionals and Extra Table have partnered to package 2500 bags of red beans and rice to be distributed to food pantries and shelters within Vicksburg and Warren County. For this event to go off without a hitch, volunteers are still needed to help set up, pack and distribute the bags, and break down the event. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the many volunteers who have already signed up, but the group is still seeking additional volunteers. They are proud to announce that the entire $5,000 has been raised and want to thank those who contributed: Clean Spark, Inc., First Presbyterian Church, and many anonymous donors. Their contributions have been instrumental in ensuring that they reach their goal of packing 10,000 meals.

Extra Table has been helping Mississippians since 2009 though a 4-step process that focuses on fresh food versus canned and boxed donations.

If you are available any time between 3 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, to help package the red beans and rice, please sign up using the form here OR text your name to Chris Rials @ 360-473-7613. This event will be held at Crawford Street United Methodist Church at 900 Crawford Street.
